Description

A 100 Gigabit QSFP28 short-reach module with four 25G lanes on parallel multimode fibre, Juniper part code 740-061405. It links leaf and spine switches, aggregation routers and 100G server uplinks within a data hall, and Juniper marks it breakout capable for 4x25G on supported hosts. Reach is 70 m on OM3 and 100 m on OM4 using an MPO-12 cable. Maximum power is 3.5 W, the operating range is 0 to 70 degrees C and digital monitoring is included. Cabling for JNP-QSFP-100G-SR4: use a multimode trunk with MPO-12 connectors and correct polarity, OM3 or OM4. The headline reach is 70 m on OM3 · 100 m on OM4, so measure the installed link loss before ordering. The host needs a free QSFP28 cage that runs at 100G; Juniper's tool names EX4400, QFX5120-48Y, QFX5130-32CD among the platforms where this code is supported, and the model page also gives the minimum software release for each platform. Clean the connectors before insertion and keep dust caps on unused ports.

Typical uses

  • Server and storage links to a top-of-rack switch
  • Switch-to-switch links inside one data hall or comms room
  • Building risers that already have OM3/OM4 multimode fibre

Before you order

  1. Confirm your switch or router model and software release support the JNP-QSFP-100G-SR4
