Description
An extended-reach version of the 40 Gigabit QSFP+ SR4 module, using four 850 nm lanes over parallel multimode fibre. It reaches 300 m on OM3 and 400 m on OM4, which allows links between larger rooms or across a campus building without single-mode optics. Per-lane transmit power is -7.6 to 0 dBm and the receive window runs from -9.9 to +2.4 dBm. DOM data is available to the switch. Power use is around 1.5 W and the module is rated for the commercial 0 to 70 degrees C range. It has a 12-fibre MPO connector with physical contact polish, using eight of the fibres. It is not compatible with APC-polished cables. The module can be optically split into four 10G channels on switches that support it, including several 8320, 8325 and 8360 variants, with software requirements listed in the vendor guide.
