A 40 Gigabit QSFP+ module using four 850 nm lanes of 10G over parallel multimode fibre. It connects data-centre switches over short distances, such as leaf-to-spine links inside one hall, and can be split into four 10G connections on platforms that allow it. The stated reach is 100 m on OM3 and 150 m on OM4. Transmit power is -7.6 to 0 dBm per lane and the receiver covers -9.5 to +2.4 dBm. Digital optical monitoring is included. The module draws about 1.5 W and is rated 0 to 70 degrees C. A 12-fibre MPO connector with physical-contact polish is used; eight fibres carry traffic, and the far end needs matching SR4 optics or a breakout cable setup. Splitting support varies, and the vendor guide notes that 8100 48-port models cannot split a 40G SR4 port, among other limits.
