Description
A one-metre direct-attach copper cable with an SFP+ connector at each end, carrying 10 Gigabit Ethernet between two SFP+ ports. It replaces a pair of optical modules and a fibre patch cord, which lowers cost and per-port power to about 0.1 W per end. The short length makes it a natural fit for linking stacked or neighbouring switches in the same rack, or a server to a top-of-rack switch directly beside it. The cable is rated for the commercial 0 to 70 degrees C range and is terminated permanently, so nothing can be swapped at either end. It works only for 10G links; it will not negotiate down to 1 Gigabit. Several switches in the CX family require an interface-group setting before 10G cables work in SFP28 ports, so check the hardware guide for the model. Longer options in the same family are the 3 m and 7 m cables.
