The SFP-H10GB-CU5M is a passive twinax copper cable, 5 m long, with an SFP+ connector permanently attached at each end. Cisco lists the 4 m and 5 m passive lengths on thicker 24 or 26 AWG twinax, which is stiffer in the rack. With no active electronics it draws very little power, about 0.1 W per the data sheet, and reports no digital diagnostics. Choose it for rows of cabinets where the cable must leave one rack, cross a short gap and enter the next. It carries a 10 Gigabit Ethernet link between two SFP+ ports and needs no separate transceivers. Store unused lengths coiled loosely in their bag so the jacket and strain reliefs keep their shape. The rate is fixed by the cable type, so the port at each end must be set for the matching speed. Seat each plug until it latches, then give the cable a gentle tug to confirm the pull-tab latch has engaged. Neat hook-and-loop strapping helps keep front-to-back airflow clear around the switch faceplate.
