The QSFP-H40G-CU5M is a passive copper cable for 40 Gigabit Ethernet, 5 m long, with a QSFP+ connector on each end. The cable is wider and stiffer than a 10G twinax, so allow a gentle bend radius when dressing it. Label both ends at installation, since cables of different lengths look identical in a dense rack. Laying the cable in before the equipment is fully racked leaves the final connection for last and saves rework. Cisco's 40GBASE QSFP data sheet groups it with the 40GBASE-CR4 copper cables, which carry four 10G lanes in each direction. It connects two QSFP+ ports directly, contains no active electronics and gives no digital diagnostics. Route it clear of power cords and fan exhaust where possible, to keep the cable run tidy and serviceable. It is intended for data-centre environments and has a standard commercial temperature range. Choose it for rows of cabinets where the cable must leave one rack, cross a short gap and enter the next.
