Description
A longer-reach multimode relative of the SR4, built for 40G links that outgrow the 100 m and 150 m limits of standard SR4 optics. Cisco gives its reach as 82 m on OM2, 300 m on OM3 and 400 m on OM4 or OM5, using four lanes in the 840 to 860 nm window over a 12-fibre MPO connector. That makes it useful in larger campus data centres or across a hall where the trunk run between rows is long. It is also one of the two modules Cisco points to when 4x10G breakout connectivity is required, so a single QSFP+ port can feed four SFP+ ports through an MPO-to-LC breakout assembly. The datasheet lists a maximum power of 1.5 W, a 0 to 70 degC commercial range and an orange pull tab. Verify the specific switch and release in the compatibility matrix.
