Description
A dual-rate bidirectional multimode module that works as either a 40G or a 100G link, depending on what the host port is configured for. It runs over one duplex LC fibre pair, with two wavelengths at 855 and 908 nm travelling in opposite directions. At 100G Cisco lists 70 m on OM3, 100 m on OM4 and 150 m on OM5; at 40G the figures are 100 m on OM3 and 150 m on OM4, with a small extra link margin in 40G mode. This makes it handy for staged migrations where a network is moving from 40G to 100G and the fibre should not be replaced. Maximum power is 3.5 W. The operating range is 10 to 60 degC at 100G and 10 to 70 degC at 40G. Both link ends need compatible BiDi modules. Check host support in the Cisco optics compatibility matrix.
