Description
A parallel single-mode 100G QSFP28 module. It transmits four 25G lanes at around 1310 nm over four fibres and receives on four others, using a 12-fibre MPO connector, with a reach of 500 m on G.652 single-mode fibre. Cisco specifies that APC-polished (angled) MPO patch cords are required, so standard UPC trunks and cassettes are not suitable and can cause high return loss. The parallel layout makes it useful where a trunk cable is already installed and where breaking out a 100G port into four 25G single-mode links is wanted. Typical placements are data-centre spine and leaf links within a few hundred metres. Maximum power draw is 3.5 W over the commercial 0 to 70 degC range. Check host platform and software release in the Cisco optics compatibility matrix before ordering.
Typical uses
- Campus links between buildings over single-mode fibre
- Data-centre interconnects between halls or floors
- Aggregation and core uplinks where multimode reach is not enough
Before you order
- Confirm your switch or router model and software release support the QSFP-100G-PSM4-S=
- Use single-mode (OS2) fibre and check the link budget for the full span
- Parallel optics need MPO/MTP trunk or breakout cabling with the right polarity
- Prices exclude import duties and taxes in your country (DAP)
