A standard 100GBASE-LR4 QSFP28 module for duplex single-mode fibre. Four 25G lanes at 1295, 1300, 1304 and 1309 nm are multiplexed in the module and sent over one fibre pair with LC connectors, for up to 10 km on G.652 fibre. Cisco notes it follows the IEEE LR4 specification and operates without forward error correction, which makes it broadly interoperable with other LR4 optics. Common uses include campus backbone links, data-centre interconnects across a metro area, and uplinks from enterprise or service-provider aggregation switches.
