Description
A 100G QSFP28 extended-reach module in the ER4-Lite class, for metro links over duplex single-mode fibre. It uses four wavelengths from 1295 to 1309 nm multiplexed onto one fibre pair with LC connectors. Cisco rates it for 40 km when the host applies forward error correction and 30 km when it does not, and gives a minimum channel insertion loss of 6.4 dB, so very short links need attenuation. This reach fills the gap between 10 km LR4 optics and 80 km ZR4 optics, serving data-centre interconnect between nearby sites and service-provider aggregation. Power consumption is up to 4.5 W, and the module covers the commercial 0 to 70 degC range.
