Description
A 100G QSFP28 module for single-mode fibre links of up to 500 m, using a single 1310 nm wavelength and a duplex LC connector. It follows the DR class: one 100G PAM4 channel in each direction, rather than the four-lane or parallel schemes of older 100G single-mode optics. Cisco states that it interoperates with 400GBASE-DR4 ports through breakout cables, so one DR4 port on a 400G switch can feed four of these modules. That makes it a natural fit for data-centre fabrics that are migrating from 100G to 400G at the spine. Maximum power draw is 4.3 W and the commercial 0 to 70 degC range applies. The host interface must handle PAM4 signalling and the matching forward error correction. For breakout, the cabling must be single-mode with APC MPO-to-LC fan-out.
