A three-metre 25 Gigabit SFP28 direct-attach cable with fixed connectors at both ends. This length covers links between a server and a switch placed within the same or the next rack, and short leaf connections in a data-centre row. Compared with optics, the permanent copper construction removes fibre handling and keeps power to about 0.1 W per end. It is rated for 0 to 70 degrees C. Both ports must be 25G capable, and on CX switches that organise SFP28 ports in groups the group speed must be left at 25G. The vendor guide lists support across the 5420, 6300, 6400 SFP56 ports, 8325, 8360, 8400X and 10000 families, and a few models such as the 8325 32C list direct-attach cables as unsupported. For shorter distances the 0.65 m cable is the alternative, and for longer ones the 5 m cable.
