Description

A copper SFP+ module with an RJ-45 port that negotiates 10 gigabit as well as 1 gigabit and 100 megabit speeds. It lets a switch with SFP+ cages connect to twisted-pair servers, storage heads or legacy copper switches without moving to fibre. Datasheet reach is 30 m at 10G over Cat 6A or Cat 7 cabling, and 100 m at lower speeds. Its power draw is higher than optical modules, at 2.5 W at 10G. The SFP-10G-T-X is a SFP+ form-factor part for SFP+ ports on 10 gigabit switches, routers and server adapters. It runs over copper and is specified for the extended temperature range of minus 5 to 85 degrees Celsius. Its listed reach is 30 m on Cat 6A/7 · 100 m at 1G on Cat 5e or better. Because it is a copper module, there is no laser safety concern and no optical budget to calculate; cable quality and length are the only link limits.
