An extended-temperature copper SFP offering a 1000BASE-T RJ-45 interface inside an SFP cage. It fits warmer wiring closets and enclosed cabinets where a commercial-grade copper module could be pushed past its range, and supplies gigabit copper links from an SFP slot. Link length is up to 100 m over Cat 5 cable or better. Being electrical, the module uses no fibre. The GLC-TE is a SFP form-factor part for gigabit SFP ports found on access switches, routers and industrial Ethernet gear. It runs over copper and is specified for the extended temperature range of minus 5 to 85 degrees Celsius. Its listed reach is 100 m on Cat 5 or better. Because it is a copper module, there is no laser safety concern and no optical budget to calculate; cable quality and length are the only link limits.
