Description
A copper SFP+ module that presents a 10GBASE-T RJ-45 port, letting a 10G SFP+ cage connect to twisted-pair devices such as servers or other switches with copper interfaces. The stated reach is 30 m using shielded Category 6A cabling. The vendor lists an extended temperature range of 0 to 85 degrees C, higher than most optical modules, because copper SFP+ parts run warm. This is the C revision, which replaced the earlier JL563A and JL563B parts that are marked end of sale. It is well suited to short in-rack or adjacent-rack connections where fibre is not available and a standard BASE-T NIC is already in place. Check cage spacing and airflow, since several modules side by side add heat. Support varies by model: the guide lists it as unsupported on the 4100i, 6100, 8325 32C and 8325P; on the 10000 series it is supported from 10.10.0002 (only the earlier JL563A is locked out).
