Description
A long-haul gigabit SFP module that operates at 1550 nm over single-mode fibre and is specified for spans up to 70 km. It suits dark-fibre routes between sites, regional offices and other cases where a standard 10 km optic falls short. Transmit power lies between 0 and +5 dBm, while the receiver accepts -22 to -3 dBm, so short fibre runs need an 8 dB attenuator to avoid overloading the receiver. Digital optical monitoring is supported. The module uses about 1 W and is rated for the commercial 0 to 70 degrees C range. Each end connects with a duplex LC pair of 9/125 micron fibre, and both ends should be the same long-haul type. Support differs by switch family: the vendor guide lists it as not supported on the CX 6000 and 6100 series, and some uplink ports on newer CX 6300 models exclude it.
