The QSFP-100G-AOC5M is a 100 Gigabit active optical cable, 5 m long, with a QSFP28 connector at each end and multimode fibre carrying four 25G lanes between them. The optics are sealed into the connector bodies, so there is no MPO fibre to clean and no module pairing to manage. Plan the route before ordering, because a fixed-length cable cannot be shortened or extended later. The length gives some freedom in equipment placement, so the switch need not sit in the exact middle of the rack.
