Description
A coherent digital optics module in the QSFP-DD form factor, built to the OIF 400ZR agreement. Instead of a grey client-side optic it contains a tunable coherent laser and a digital signal processor, and can tune across the C band, so it plugs straight into a router or switch port and sends a 400G Ethernet signal over a DWDM line system. Cisco describes the main application as point-to-point transmission up to roughly 120 km, which removes the need for a separate transponder in data-centre interconnect designs. The datasheet gives a typical 16-QAM transmit power of minus 8.5 dBm and a maximum receive power of 13 dBm, with an operating case temperature of 15 to 75 degC. The host port must support coherent optics. Confirm support in the Cisco optics compatibility matrix.
