Description

A 400G QSFP-DD module for parallel single-mode links, specified to 500 m. Four 100G PAM4 lanes at 1310 nm travel in each direction over eight fibres of a 12-fibre APC MPO connector, following the IEEE DR4 specification. Its main strength is breakout: a DR4 port can connect to four 100G DR optics, which makes it a common spine-side module in data-centre fabrics that are moving leaf links from 100G to 400G. Cisco lists a maximum power of 12 W and an operating range of 0 to 75 degC. The cabling must be single-mode with APC end faces, and any breakout fan-out must be APC to LC. Output power and dispersion limits are fixed by the standard, so short links normally work without attenuators. Check host platform and software release in the Cisco optics compatibility matrix.
