Description
A bidirectional 400G QSFP-DD multimode module that carries 400G over a 12-fibre MPO connector, with two wavelengths, 855 and 908 nm, sharing each fibre. The SR4.2 design follows the IEEE 802.3 bidirectional multimode scheme, so each fibre carries traffic in both directions and fewer fibres are needed than with an SR8 module. Cisco lists reach as 70 m on OM3, 100 m on OM4 and 150 m on OM5, the longest of the multimode 400G modules in the data sheet. The cabling uses MPO-12 with UPC polish. Maximum power is up to 12 W and operating temperature is 0 to 75 degC. Typical use is high-speed leaf-to-spine connections in a data hall, especially when moving from 40G or 100G BiDi plant to 400G with the existing trunks. Check host support in the Cisco optics compatibility matrix.
Typical uses
- Links where only a single fibre strand is available
- Doubling capacity on existing fibre plant
- Access and fronthaul links to remote cabinets
Before you order
- Confirm your switch or router model and software release support the QDD-400G-SR4.2-BD=
- BiDi optics work in matched pairs: one upstream (U) and one downstream (D) end
- Parallel optics need MPO/MTP trunk or breakout cabling with the right polarity
- Prices exclude import duties and taxes in your country (DAP)
