A 400G QSFP-DD module reaching 10 km over duplex single-mode fibre with LC connectors. It combines four 100G PAM4 wavelengths at 1270, 1290, 1310 and 1330 nm in one fibre pair and follows the 100G Lambda MSA 400G-LR4 specification, which extends the IEEE LR4-6 requirements to the longer distance. It suits data-centre interconnect between nearby buildings or campuses and metro aggregation links where the 2 km of FR4 optics is not enough. When paired with an FR4 module at the far end, reach falls to 2 km. Maximum power is 12 W with a 0 to 75 degC operating range, so adequate cooling in the host is needed.
