The QDD-400-AOC7M is a 400 Gigabit active optical cable, 7 m long, with a QSFP-DD connector on each end and multimode fibre between them. Both connector ends use the same housing style, so the cable has no preferred direction when installed. Use it when equipment is a few cabinets apart and a shorter cable would be pulled tight. The optics are sealed in the connector bodies, so there is no MPO connector to clean and no transceivers to pair. The fibre jacket is far lighter and more flexible than 400G copper, which matters in dense spine-leaf rows. Check the host platform's supported-cable list before deploying, as support varies by switch family and software release. Store unused lengths coiled loosely in their bag so the jacket and strain reliefs keep their shape.
