The QDD-400-AOC10M is a 400 Gigabit active optical cable, 10 m long, with a QSFP-DD connector on each end and multimode fibre between them. Check the host platform's supported-cable list before deploying, as support varies by switch family and software release. Neat hook-and-loop strapping helps keep front-to-back airflow clear around the switch faceplate. It suits end-of-row and adjacent-rack layouts where the route is longer than the straight-line distance between the two ports. Route it clear of power cords and fan exhaust where possible, to keep the cable run tidy and serviceable. As a pre-terminated unit, it removes the need to match, stock or clean separate pluggable modules at either end. Cisco's 400G QSFP-DD data sheet lists it in the QDD-400-AOC family, from 1 m to 30 m, with forward error correction handled by the host platform. The fibre jacket is far lighter and more flexible than 400G copper, which matters in dense spine-leaf rows. The optics are sealed in the connector bodies, so there is no MPO connector to clean and no transceivers to pair.
