PoE budget calculator
Add up the Power over Ethernet load of your access points, cameras and phones, add headroom and check it against a switch's PoE budget.
The sums use the power a switch port allocates for each IEEE PoE class, as tabulated by the Ethernet Alliance overview of IEEE 802.3bt. Take each device's class and maximum draw from its data sheet. Method and a worked example are in the PoE budget planning guide.

Switches that fit
Matches appear once you have a result.
Based on recorded specifications; confirm power-supply configuration. A recorded budget may depend on which power supplies are fitted, and the port count is the recorded access-port total, not a PoE port count. A switch must also support the highest per-port power of your devices; switches without a recorded per-port PoE standard (PoE, PoE+, UPOE, UPOE+) are not suggested. Check the data sheet before ordering.
Class allocations used
| Class | Standard | Power at the switch port |
|---|---|---|
| 0 | 802.3af (Type 1) | 15.4 W |
| 1 | 802.3af (Type 1) | 4 W |
| 2 | 802.3af (Type 1) | 7 W |
| 3 | 802.3af (Type 1) | 15.4 W |
| 4 | 802.3at (Type 2) | 30 W |
| 5 | 802.3bt (Type 3) | 45 W |
| 6 | 802.3bt (Type 3) | 60 W |
| 7 | 802.3bt (Type 4) | 75 W |
| 8 | 802.3bt (Type 4) | 90 W |
Source: Ethernet Alliance, Overview of IEEE 802.3bt. Class 0 is planned at the Class 3 figure. The device receives less after cable loss, so plan on the port figure. Each device uses one port; the calculator does not model switches that allocate by negotiated (LLDP/CDP) draw, so a real switch may reserve less than the class figure.
