A seven-metre 40 Gigabit active optical cable with QSFP+ connectors, combining multimode fibre and optical transmitters into a single permanently attached assembly. It is thinner and lighter than a copper DAC of similar length, which makes it easier to route in crowded racks. The vendor lists the cable as drawing about 0.1 W per end and covers 0 to 70 degrees C. It is intended for 40G links between switches or from switch to server over short distances, in place of a pair of SR4 modules and MPO trunk cable. The vendor guide lists support on the CX 6300, 8100, 8325, 8360, 8400X, 9300, 9300S, 10000 and 10040 families, and lists it as not supported on the 8320.
