A licence, subscription and support contract answer different purchasing questions. Write down the required outcome before choosing a line item: which feature must work, on which equipment or account, for which end user and for how long?
Separate the requirements
| Item | Questions to resolve before purchase |
|---|---|
| Feature licence | Which feature and software edition does the exact identifier enable? |
| Subscription | What term, quantity, activation event and expiry behaviour apply? |
| Support contract | Which equipment, service level, location and dates does the proposed contract cover? |
| Renewal | Does it extend the existing agreement, and what happens to any gap? |
Vendor terminology and licensing models vary. For example, Meraki documents subscription, co-termination and per-device models with different scope and expiry behaviour. Check the existing organisation’s model before selecting a renewal; do not assume all licences are interchangeable. Meraki licensing documentation.
Build a purchase checklist
Before accepting a quote, confirm:
- Exact manufacturer identifier, feature tier, quantity and term
- New purchase, renewal or upgrade, and any prerequisite licence
- End-user legal name, installation country, account/organisation and device serial numbers where required
- Activation method, start date, end date and renewal responsibility
- Required service level and any country or site restrictions
- Eligibility and transfer requirements for previously owned equipment
Request written confirmation for unresolved items before paying. A hardware listing or a seller invoice alone does not establish manufacturer warranty, software access or support entitlement. Avoid assuming that an old owner’s account, licence or agreement transfers with a device.
Delivery and verification
Digital items are delivered by email after payment and export screening; they do not incur physical shipping charges. Delivery timing and the information needed should be confirmed in the quotation. Confirm the registration or activation steps required for your purchase.
After delivery, check the identifier, end user, quantity and dates against the accepted quote, and verify registration in the relevant manufacturer portal. Keep the delivery email and agreement reference with your asset records. Do not send passwords or licence keys in a public enquiry.
Our recorded seller policy is no returns or refunds once a licence or entitlement has been issued or registered. Resolve uncertainties first and read Returns and warranty and Terms of sale.
Browse licences and support contracts or send the requirement through the quote form.
