The QSFP-4X10G-AOC5M is a breakout active optical cable, 5 m long. Choose it for rows of cabinets where the cable must leave one rack, cross a short gap and enter the next. Cisco's 40GBASE QSFP data sheet lists it as an active optical breakout cable. Keep a spare of the same length on the shelf if the link is critical, as there is no field repair for a moulded cable. One end has a QSFP+ connector for a 40G port, and the other divides into four SFP+ connectors, one for each 10 Gigabit Ethernet lane. Both connector ends use the same housing style, so the cable has no preferred direction when installed.
