The QDD-400-CU1M is a passive copper cable for 400 Gigabit Ethernet, 1 m long, with a QSFP-DD connector fixed to each end. The data sheet gives a maximum power of 1.5 W per end and a 0 to 70 degrees Celsius operating range for the copper cables. Cisco's 400G QSFP-DD data sheet lists it in the QDD-400-CU family, with forward error correction performed by the host platform. Check the host platform's supported-cable list before deploying, as support varies by switch family and software release. Seat each plug until it latches, then give the cable a gentle tug to confirm the pull-tab latch has engaged. It joins two QSFP-DD ports directly, using eight lanes, with no separate transceivers. It fits the shortest runs, such as a switch feeding a server or patch panel a few rack units away in the same cabinet. As a pre-terminated unit, it removes the need to match, stock or clean separate pluggable modules at either end. The rate is fixed by the cable type, so the port at each end must be set for the matching speed.
